Back in the 1960s during the high performance car era we used to used water to drip into the carburetor to loosen carbon build up on the valves. These could have been considered the first water cars but not yet a water powered car. I have seen 350 Chevy engine that were running rough and after dribbling water down the carburetor the engine would smooth out and run a lot more smoothly.

Carbon would build up around the valve seats preventing the valves from completely closing and creating back pressure and loss of power. In the last 25 years or so there are several companies that produce a water system that injects water into the engine in a limited control rate.

This acts as a coolant cooling the fuel, creating higher cylinder pressure, and better detonation reducing pre-detonation. All this is controlled by a computer system that was not available several years ago.

Although the industry is working to produce a hydrogen fuel cell car that you fill with hydrogen it is possible and many are using the system of water that is electrically charged giving off hydrogen gas while you drive and injected into the cylinder of the engine. This not only cols the fuel but also increases performance and gas mileage. The idea has been tested and is being used in the racing industry at Indianapolis 500.

Hybrid cars that use water can provide alternative fuel source to the rising costs the world faces.

The water-fueled car desire continues with Genepax’s latest invention which uses clean water and fresh air to power their automobile. According to the excited Japanese company, the 21st century Water Energy System consists of sophisticated on-board energy generator which continuously extracts hydrogen based on a “ unique mechanism which is very similar to the method in which hydrogen itself is produced by a electrical reaction of metal hydride and water. The hydrogen will then produce energy to propel the car.

Genepax didn’t elaborate on the “core part of their invention” and along with the fact that the system uses hydrogen to run their vehicle, makes everyone interested think that this is only a hybrid-fueled car, not a water-fueled car. Well, Genepax’s Energy System was unveiled back in June 2008 so we are still waiting for the Japanese company and the scientists to clarify this once and for all.
